The Poet Speaks x National Writing Project

We are thrilled to share a new collaboration between The Poet Speaks with Amanda Eke and the National Writing Project as part of Write Where You Stand 2026!
Our original writing activity, “If This River Could Speak,” is now officially featured on the 2026 Write Where You Stand Choice Board, inviting writers to explore the relationship between poetry, place, memory, and community.
Created from The Poet Speaks journey through the Bronx with Puerto Rican poet and educator Mario José Pagán Morales, this project asks a simple question:
If the places around us could speak, what stories would they tell?
Now that question is traveling beyond the Bronx and into communities and classrooms around the country.
We are so proud of this collaboration and excited to see where writers take it.
